The next performance of the OER of the Municipal Theater of São Paulo will be this Sunday, the 21st of October, at 11:00 AM at the Municipal Theater.

In this program, part of the Richard Wagner Festival, there are 2 pieces with harp in them!

The first work on the program comes from the opera The Twilight of the Gods: the harps play at the end of the Vorspiel or Overture to the 1st Act, and was original scored for 6 harps!

The second half of the program begins with another major work: the famous Prelude and Love-Death from the opera Tristan and Isolde. The harp part is very beautiful and presents a few techical challenges, although the composer did write correctly for the harp, in my opinion. Its worth the extra effort to practice this piece, one of the most important orchestral repertoire pieces!

In my case this piece is part of my "wish list" pieces that I always wanted to play! :)

The Kalmus edition of Prelude to Tristan is 4 pages long. The most difficult parts for me were the 2nd and 3rd pages.

I found this example on my computer, although I am using the orchestra's parts for this performance, where I've written in my own pedals and fingerings!

Segunda folha. / Page 2. 2nd and 3rd system are the most difficult because of the pedals!

3ra Folha. :) / Page 3. 3rd and 4th system also require fancy footwork.  In this section the pedal changes have to be very accurate and fast! :)
